Our Mission Matters

Our Mission
To reduce aggressive behavior and improve culture of peace within school, church, community organizations and within nonprofit context through student led Peace Warriors using the philosophy and principles of Kingian Nonviolence tactics and strategies.
Our Vision
Peace Warriors focuses on building a strong model of Peace Warriors to be emulated in other middle, high schools, colleges, churches or youth based community organizations with the expressed purpose to raise up action oriented, civic minded, student led nonviolent practitioners whose intention is to reduce aggressive culture and increase peace and nonviolence restorative practices.
Who are the Peace Warriors
We are a school base of student leaders and staff who are Kingian nonviolence practitioners who intentionally interrupt nonsense, interject love and kindness and are active ambassadors of peace. This was instituted in 2008 under the leadership of Tiffany Childress-Price and Principal Nicole Howard at North Lawndale College Prep High School. From SY 2012 under the leadership of Gerald W. Smith, the Peace Warrior expanded to national recognition and has garnered the attention of Chicago Sun Times and Tribune, Fox News, NBC, CBS, ABC, Times Magazine, Teen Vogue, Washington Post, NY Times, Associated Press, NPR, Scholastics to name a few.
